AlumniThe Principal's welcome

Â鶹ŮÓÅ People 2017

A very warm welcome to Â鶹ŮÓÅ People magazine. This has been another year of great success for Â鶹ŮÓÅrs around the globe, and the following pages will give you a flavour of some of the terrific achievements of our alumni community.

Here in Glasgow, we are reflecting on a year of major progress for Â鶹ŮÓÅ, while looking to the future as we accelerate our work and impact as a leading, international technological university that also delivers value to society through our purpose as a socially progressive institution.

On behalf of the entire University community, I’d like to thank you for your vital, ongoing support."

I’m pleased to let you know that we are now around halfway through our £650 million campus redevelopment. The centrepiece will be our new learning and teaching facility – our single biggest investment in a building to date – as well as ‘Â鶹ŮÓÅ Sport’ – our new centre to boost health and wellbeing for all.

We are building for a more sustainable Â鶹ŮÓÅ with our Combined Heat and Power System, which will dramatically reduce our carbon emissions and energy costs, and we are creating leading-edge facilities in the Wolfson building for the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

At the heart of our plans are our people: our students, our staff and the global communities we serve. I was particularly pleased that this ethos was recognised with the award of the UK Workplace of the Year from the Times Higher Education in 2017, just months after we were named UK Business School of the Year by the same publication.

Our success is in no small part due to the collective talent and support of our alumni community. Your feedback and engagement play a vital role in helping us give tomorrow’s Â鶹ŮÓÅrs the best possible experience – and on their behalf, I’d ask each of you to please keep in touch. It may be that we do not have an email address for you – we would be delighted if you could take a moment to .

On behalf of the entire University community, I’d like to thank you for your vital, ongoing support.

Best wishes
