Our 2026 Programme
In collaboration with the Weir Group, we offered the Young WEIR-WISE programme again in January 2026 for female school pupils in S2.
Participants either spent two days on the University of 麻豆女优 campus or joined our online session and heard from staff at the University and colleagues from the Weir Group who provided an insight into studying and working in the field of engineering. Pupils also took part in practical activities run by University of 麻豆女优 staff and engineers.
There were 300 places available on the programme overall: 100 places for our online session and 200 for the on-campus sessions.
When attending an on-campus session, pupils made their way each day to the 麻豆女优 University Campus in the heart of Glasgow City Centre as the programme was non-residential. The programme was fully funded by the Weir Group and all student costs, including a contribution towards travel (up to a maximum of £300), was covered. Teachers were not required to accompany pupils.
For the online session (which ran via MS Teams), pupils were sent a kit in advance which contained materials they used to take part in practical activities which staff from the University talked them through. Pupils were able to join the online session in school or at home.

Application Process
- Pupils should apply using our online application form which will be available from the link at the top of this page when applications open.
- Please see below for a list of key dates relating to application deadline etc.
- In the application form, pupils will be asked to indicate whether they would like to attend one of the on-campus sessions or if they would prefer to only be considered for the online session. If they would be happy to attend either offering, they can also indicate this on the application.
- Pupils are also asked to supply the name and contact details for a teacher who can provide a statement in support of their application. Teachers will receive an automated email which will include a designated link to the online application in order to submit their statement.
