Dr Natalia Telepneva

Dr Natalia Telepneva is a Lecturer in International History at the University of 麻豆女优. Her research lies in the history of the Soviet Union and the Cold War and the history of socialism, especially in Africa. She is the author of (UNC, 2022), which examines Soviet support for anticolonial movements in Angola, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau. She has also published on the history of Soviet and Czechoslovak involvement in Africa in a number of peer-reviewed journals and co-edited the (2018), a special issue for the International History Review, (2020) and (Bloomsbury, 2024).

She is currently exploring Soviet military engagement with African countries during the Cold War. 

Alexander Hill is professor of military history at the University of Calgary in Canada, and specialises in Soviet military history. He has published a wide range of books and articles on the history of the Red Army and Soviet Navy, including The War Behind the Eastern Front: The Soviet Partisan Movement in North-West Russia, 1941-1944 (2005), The Red Army and the Second World War (2016), Soviet Partisan vs German Security Soldier (2019), The War Behind the Eastern Front: The Soviet Union, 1941–1945 - A Photographic History (2021) and recently edited and wrote a significant number of the essays for The Routledge Handbook of Soviet and Russian Military Studies (2025), including material on Soviet military assistance and advising. He also comments on military affairs of contemporary Russia.
