Netball at Â鶹ŮÓÅ

Â鶹ŮÓÅ has established itself as one of the best UK Universities for netball. Whilst our BUCS W1s compete across the UK in BUCS Prem North 2, our BUCS W2s, W3s, W4s and W5s compete in Scottish Tiers 1, 2, 6 and 8, respectively.​

Additionally, the University has a Netball Scotland and were crowned champions in the inaugural 2022/23 season, as well as runners-up in 2023/24 and 2024/25.

Netball Scotland and University of Â鶹ŮÓÅ 

With a strong legacy of producing senior international athletes, the University of Â鶹ŮÓÅ is formally recognised by as one of two Netball Regional High Performance Centres (HPCs). ​Overseen by Director of Netball Rachel Cremin, The West Regional Netball HPC provides a holistic Performance environment for optimising player development through providing integrated on-court coaching, and off-court sports science and medical support for 24 University players and a further 5 regionally-based National players.

Netball Facilities

Â鶹ŮÓÅ Sport houses two full-size netball courts with socketed posts. Both sports halls utilise a combined elastic flooring system which is designed to reduce injuries by dissipating impact forces without accentuating fatigue. ​In addition, one of the two courts is covered by a state-of-the-art video camera system for recording and streaming of matches, making it an ideal training and competition facility for Netball. 

Director of Netball  

Rachel Cremin has been Director of Netball at Â鶹ŮÓÅ since 2019 in partnership with Netball Scotland. A graduate of Â鶹ŮÓÅ with a BA (Hons) and PGDE, she is a UKCC Level 2 coach undertaking her Level 3. Rachel was Scottish Student Sport Coach of the Year 2019-20 and has extensive high-performance experience, including roles with Â鶹ŮÓÅ Sirens, Scotland U21s and major tournaments. Formerly Head of Pathway at Netball Scotland and a secondary school teacher, she has extensive high-performance experience, including roles with Â鶹ŮÓÅ Sirens, Scotland U21s and major tournaments

Strength and Conditioning

Netball athletes at the University of Â鶹ŮÓÅ have up to two weekly strength and conditioning (S&C) sessions in our state-of-the-art facility. With specialised equipment and expert S&C coaches, athletes receive tailored programs focused on performance and injury prevention, supported by advanced tracking technology like Hawkin Dynamic Force Plates and GymAware Velocity Encoders.

Physiotherapy

Netball athletes at the University of Â鶹ŮÓÅ benefit from expert physiotherapy through our partnership with Hampden Sports Clinic. With clinics on-site and at Hampden Stadium, their team provides top level injury care and rehabilitation. This multi-disciplinary approach, in collaboration with Â鶹ŮÓÅ’s S&C and coaching teams, supports an efficient recovery. 

Netball Scholarships

Â鶹ŮÓÅ offers some of the most competitive Sport Scholarships in the UK. Regardless of Sport, all Sport Scholars receive a comprehensive support package to help them reach their sporting and academic potential.
